Our Patrons

Gail Duininck Walker is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) from Arkansas SocialWork Licensing Board, Arkansas and has been an active Social Worker and Reformer for more than 20 years now.

She completed her Linguistics (American Sign Language) from the Tulane University/Newcomb College and served as a college interpreter for deaf students. Later she did her Masters in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and became a therapist/counselor. Since then she has been involved in social work in the state and has actively taken part in numerous causes.

Gail Walker has been a constant motivator and has encouraged Roots & Wings Academy Director, Safar Khan through her unconditional mentorship and patronage. Roots & Wings Academy is indebted to her gratitude and kindness.

Dr. Patrick D. Walker, M.D. has more than 30 years of experience in the interpretation of native kidney and renal allograft biopsies. Before becoming Director of Nephropath, he was the Assistant Chief, and later Chief of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the John L. McClellan Veterans Administration Hospital, and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Walker served on the faculty at Tulane University (1978-91) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (1991-02).

Dr. Walker is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the College of American Pathologists. He is also a member of the International Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation, the Renal Physicians Association, the Renal Pathology Society, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

He is the founding and present Director of Nephropath (Now Arkana Laboratories) the largest renal pathology institute in the United States of America.

Dr. Patrick Walker provides vision and leadership for our Roots & Wings Academy team. In Dr. Walker’s own words, “My goal was always to have people who were as curious as I am because that challenges each one of us.”
